The number you see is how much of the “To” currency you would get for the amount you entered in “From,” at the current market rate. It is a spot-style estimate for planning trades, invoices, or travel — not a guaranteed price from an exchange, which may add spreads, fees, or slippage.
Every asset is priced in USD first. To convert amount A from asset F to asset T: Result = A × (USD price of F) ÷ (USD price of T). Fiat pairs use the same idea: euros and pounds are converted through their USD cross-rate. Crypto-to-crypto (for example BTC to ETH) is just two USD prices divided — no separate “BTC/ETH” feed required.
Suppose 1 BTC = $94,000 USD and you convert 0.25 BTC.
0.25 × $94,000 = $23,500
You get $23,500 USD before any exchange fees.
Suppose 1 ETH = $3,400 USD and 1 EUR = $1.08 USD (so 1 ETH ≈ €3,148).
2 ETH → $6,800 USD → $6,800 ÷ 1.08 ≈ €6,296
2 ETH is worth about €6,296 at those rates.
Suppose 1 SOL = $145 USD and you convert $1,000.
$1,000 ÷ $145 ≈ 6.90 SOL
You would receive roughly 6.90 SOL at that price.
